Cartomancy - It's In The Cards

The nice thing about reading cards, Oracle or Tarot, is the fact you simply go with what you initially feel and see in the pictures at the time you are viewing them. Of course, one can always read the definitions for all the cards from a book - and I have - however I found this overwhelming as the authors usually list ALL the definitions for a card - and there can be a LOT per card when it comes to Tarot - add to the fact when the card is upside down these definitions potentially double.

I'm really beginning to have fun with card reading more so as I let go of the solid definitions and just go with the moment. Even in my own created card deck of 70 cards (pictured below), I had definite interpretations for each card. I found, to my surprise, the predefined interpretations rarely came to mind. What I read in the cards was dependent on the question, the one asking and even me and my mood at the time.

My cousin came for a visit from Montreal last weekend and we always find ourselves heading to a coffee shop or somewhere on the quieter side as she enjoys getting her cards read (and I enjoy reading them) when she visits. So we went out for coffee and started having some fun with my new card deck.

At one point I handed her the cards, to her surprise, and asked her to read them for me. She was a bit shocked as she has never read someone's cards before. I told her that I would ask the question in my head so as not to distract her, and I just wanted her interpretation of what she saw in the cards. We did this three times and each time she hit the nail on the head. The right cards will ALWAYS come up for interpretation. It was all pretty darn cool! And I'm finding it easier to NOT hear the question and simply give an interpretation of the cards. The person with the question usually gets their answer within the explanation. :}

I know it is always nice to hear what you want to hear. I've been fortunate to have heard what I want several times by others doing a reading for me. In fact, several people I've had readings from have validated all the other readings, so I know I'm on the right path! I also consider myself fortunate as I do have an idea of what path I want to follow in the first place, and things appear to be falling in place for that. I may not know all the details, but I know the direction I want to go - and I will not fool myself - I realize nothing comes without challenges of varying degrees

Many people have cards read (or psychic work in general done) because they want to hear what they want and not what they need to hear - some even get really, really agitated if they do not hear that/those words they came to hear. As what happened to me a few weeks ago during a reading for someone else. Unfortunately, no matter how much tact you have in conveying the information, sometimes a slap in the face, is a slap in the face to someone when the information is presented from the cards - you can not get around the fact that the card conveys some form of life lessons and whether you know of them or not, or want them or not, they are going to repeatedly make themselves known until dealt with in the appropriate manner. Emotions can be high at these times.

A tip for any type of self-reading: Speaking of high emotions, I have found, when doing a reading for myself and selecting my own cards, it can take a lot of concentration to separate myself emotionally from my own question. If you don't separate emotional ties to the question, you will get the answer you want the most or fear the most - in neither case are they correct, but emotions can really muddy up the result. For those who may feel emotional ties to their own questions while doing their own reading, I offer this which helps me greatly - Whether using cards, pendulum, etc... - refer to yourself by full name (first and last) - what others would refer to you as on a normal basis (instead of 'me' or 'I' within the question) - I find this really helps separate myself from the question at hand.
